Welcome Halloween Season with these Classic Movies

As fall and the Halloween season looms in the distance and all us ghouls get ready for pumpkin spice and brisk weather, it’s time to start the Halloween watchlists. Some movies are no-brainers to watch during the season, such as Hocus Pocus and Beetlejuice. Outside of the classics, here are some recommendations and throwbacks to put on your list. Both family-friendly and horror.

For those in their early teens during the 2000s’ here are a few you might remember. The Haunted Mansion, this 2003 Disney movie, is the perfect horror comedy for the whole family. With Eddie Murphy in the prime of his career and a great supporting cast, this movie is excellent for a Saturday morning laugh on a chilly day. Another Disney Movie worth the watch is Twitches; as a Disney Channel Classic, Twitches has a great message about family and learning to believe in yourself. It’s a great self-esteem builder for kids and is worth the watch.

Moving onto some classics…

Practical Magic is a must. For fans of Sandra Bullock, this is an obvious movie to watch during October and is known for the saying “There Are Some Things I Know For Certain: Always Throw Spilled Salt Over Your Left Shoulder, Keep Rosemary By Your Garden Gate, Plant Lavender For Luck, And Fall In Love Whenever You Can.

Onto the other side of the spectrum, GhostBusters is perfect for those wanting to convince their friends and family that Bill Murray will always be relevant, plus the soundtrack is a bop.

Going onto less family-friendly movies and more into the horror/suspense genre, it’s not Halloween unless you watch the movie Halloween. Michael Myers is a horror staple with his identifiable blue coveralls and white mask; action movies use his look for bank robbers and murderers alike. The Decent is a lesser-known horror movie in the states. Still, this British adventure horror film is perfect for those with an adventurous spirit wanting something close to home to keep them up at night. The creatures will keep you up at night and are thought to be the inspiration for Scarywoods 2017 Halloween attraction Caved-In.
